WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem pledged to continue ICE raids in sanctuary cities. She spent Friday near Chicago where she accused local democrats of shielding undocumented immigrants in the Windy City.
“We will defend the homeland,” said Noem.
It’s the unequivocal message the Trump administration is sending to every so-called sanctuary city.
Noem blasted Chicago area Democrats, accusing them of shielding criminal migrants from ICE raids.
“Our federal officers have had to do this alone without their support,” said Noem.
Within minutes, Chicago Democrats fired back on a press call.
“They can try to intimidate. The truth is the law is on our side,” said Rep. Chuy Garcia (D-Ill.).

In a letter to the Trump administration Thursday, Illinois Democrats accused DHS of using illegal tactics to undermine local laws. It’s the latest scuffle over the president’s mass deportation plans.
Border czar Tom Homan praised red states willing to house a surge in detainees.
“Every bed we fill pretty quickly,” said Homan.
Noem says they’re adding a thousand beds to the detention center in Speedway, Indiana, thanks to new funding from the ‘big, beautiful bill’.
This week a judge ordered the administration to pause construction on Alligator Alcatraz over environmental concerns, that facility is in heart of Florida’s Everglades, but Florida Governor Ron Desantis called the judge an activist and says the facility will remain operational.
