TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A drone video shows an alligator in a pond a day after it reportedly charged at a deputy during his K-9 training.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, their K-9 teams were undergoing a training exercise near a pond off Allen Creek Road.
While a deputy was laying a track for the teams, he reportedly heard a hissing sound and saw a gator with its mouth open. That’s when the gator charged at the deputy, who escaped the animal by running up an embankment.
Officials said the gator was between seven and nine feet in length.
Thankfully, the deputy was able to evade the animal and was not injured. Officials are now installing warning signs near that pond for residents to stay aware of potentially dangerous wildlife.
The sheriff’s office is reminding citizens to always take precautions near waterways.
