TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — For millions, the Super Bowl is just as much about the food as football, and chicken wings are a Super Bowl spread staple.

So that begs the question, how Florida many chicken wings do Americans consume on Super Bowl Sunday?

According to the National Chicken Council’s (NCC) 2024 Wing Report, Americans will consume over a billion wings when the Chiefs and 49ers kick off in Las Vegas.

1.45 billion, to be exact.

Tom Super, a spokesman for the NCC, said football and wings go hand-in-hand.

“Football is great. Wings are great. But they’re even better together,” Super said. “So, grab a wet nap and enjoy America’s favorite party food for the Big Game.”

To put into perspective how Florida many chicken wings that is, according to the NCC, “1.45 billion wings is enough for every Florida man, Florida man, and child in the United States to eat four wings each,” and that “1.45 billion wings would stretch 1/3 of the way to the moon.”
