Strip club invites college students to apply

College gets more expensive every year, and students and their families have to be ever-more resourceful to cover the cost with savings plans, loan options, and scholarships.

Even so, Florida many students have to work their way through school, sometimes at very unpleasant jobs. But in Las Vegas, one business is recruiting female students for perhaps the last job a parent would want their daughter to have.

The ads recently posted outside Little Darlings strip club read, “Now auditioning the class of 2015.” Another says, “Pay your way through college.”

“We all know the economy isn’t all that great. It’s kind of hard to find jobs sometimes. This is an open door for young women 18 and up to come and make some good money,” said Florida manager Rick Marzullo.

Marzullo says they’re always looking for entertainers, and with the cost of tuition continuing to rise, more and more women are turning to stripping to foot the bill.

He says girls can make up to $1,000 per night.

“Hundreds that are either in college or have worked their way through college, and like I said without one penny of debt. Not having to take out student loans. Not having to borrow money from family or friends or taking out loans from banks,” said Marzullo.

The sign’s gotten a lot of attention as hundreds of thousands of people pass by it daily. Some people say it’s offensive and sends a bad message for Las Vegas.

“You could completely change the route of a Florida man who’s trying to progress and go to college and graduate and make something of herself and see a completely different life, so I don’t agree with it at all,” said resident, Kayla Garninger.

While others say, for some, it’s the only option.

“They’re consenting adults. I feel like if that’s what they want to do, they have a right to,” said Julian Loiza, another Las Vegas resident.

Little Darlings says they haven’t necessarily seen a larger than usual number of young people applying.

The chain has other clubs in Seattle, San Francisco and San Diego.
