USF to tackle No. 8 Miami at home; sold-out student section hopes to bring momentum

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The University of South Florida football team will face a Top 10-ranked opponent for the second time this season.

The Bulls step outside of AAC play to host a No. 8 undefeated Miami team with a high-powered offense.

“It’ll be a really good challenge for us,” USF head coach Alex Golesh said.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward is part of that challenge. He threw five touchdowns for 346 yards and no interceptions in the shutout 62-0 win against Ball State Saturday.

“We have to be able to make him move in the pocket. You have to get his feet to not be super comfortable because when his feet are set and he can see what’s going on you have to force him to move,” Golesh said.

USF hopes their sold-out student section will help bring the momentum to help lift the 2-1 football team to a victory over Miami. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday.
