TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Super Bowl Sunday has transcended American culture and has become engrained as a defacto American holiday.

For millions of casual football fans, the game is less about the players on the field and more about the experience. That experience could include spending time with friends and family, watching the halftime show, eating tasty food, and yes, intently watching commercials during game breaks.

Taking out a TV advertisement on Super Bowl Sunday is costly, with the average ad costing upwards of $7 million for a 30-second spot. Not all Super Bowl commercials are created equal; some aim to be lighthearted and funny, while others strive to have a deeper meaning. That said, commercials are held to a higher standard on Super Bowl Sunday.

Below is a list of some of the best Super Bowl ads this year:

  • State Farm | Like a Good Neighbaaa
    • State Farms commercial featured bodybuilder turned action star Arnold Schwarzenegger struggling to say State Farm’s tagline, “Like a good neighbor,” in his Austrian accent. State Farm’s Super Bowl got extra points for reuniting Schwarzenegger with “Twins” co-star Danny DeVito.
  • NFL | Born to Play
    • The NFL’s Super Bowl ad highlighted the league’s International Player Pathway Program and featured a young boy dreaming of a career in the NFL while growing up in Ganha. The ad showed the young boy envisioning himself interacting with some of the NFL’s biggest stars, including Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson, and Cameron Jordan, and packed an emotional punch at the end when he punched retired defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora, a native of Nigeria, to make sure he was “real.”
  • Kia | The Perfect 10
    • Kia took a heartfelt approach with their Super Bowl, and they did not miss the mark. The commercial featured a young skater and her father putting on a full skating performance for her bedridden grandfather, who can not leave the house to see his granddaughter compete. It felt like a scene out of a Disney movie.
  • Paramount+ | Mountain of Entertainment
    • Paramount+’s Mountain of Entertainment hit the nail on the head with a lighthearted spot that saw Sir Patrick Stewart throwing a children’s cartoon into the side of a cliff with cameos from Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Drew Barrymore, Lt. Dangle, and rock band Creed singing in the background.
  • Dunkin’ |TheDunKing
    • Dunkin’ pulled out all of the Massachute-based celebrities they could get their hands on for this Super Bowl ad. The ad, which revolved around Ben Affleck attempting to become a pop star, featured Matt Damon, Tom Brady, Jack Harlow, Jennifer Lopez, and Fat Joe and was a fantastic lighthearted addition to Super Bowl LVII’s commercial lineup.
