BUCS BONUS: Can Tampa Bay fix the defense and end their losing streak?
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are increasing their overseas footprint, launching the NFL’s first fan embassy in Munich, Germany.
The “Krewe Embassy,” set for a grand opening on the weekend of Nov. 8, will serve as a home base for Bucs fans in the country, the team announced Thursday.
In 2022, the NFL granted the Buccaneers International Home Marketing Area rights in Germany. That year, the Bucs defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the first-ever NFL regular season game played in the country.
“Our German fans are an essential part of the Krewe, and we are incredibly proud to have such a vibrant fan base in Germany,” said Buccaneers Chief Marketing Officer James Ruth. “Giving them a permanent home in Munich with the Embassy is our thank you for their passion. We are thrilled to see the community continue to grow and look forward to expanding it even further in the years to come.”
Munich’s premier sports bar, “Ned Kelly’s,” will serve as the embassy’s venue where watch parties and other fan activities will be held.
“We are very proud that the first permanent fan embassy of an NFL team in Germany has found a home with us,” said Kevin Daly, Owner of Ned Kelly’s. “American football is an essential part of what we offer, and we are excited to bring this passion to life together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
On Saturday, Nov. 9, during the grand opening weekend, Bucs legend Shaq Barrett — two-time Super Bowl Champion and the team’s single-season sack record-holder — will be on-site as part of “Legend Day.”
After signing autographs and taking some photos with fans, Barrett will also appear on the Football Bromance podcast.
Legend Day will also feature an exhibition of team memorabilia, including a Super Bowl LV ring, a replica Super Bowl LV trophy, and jerseys from legendary players.
The opening weekend will end with watch parties for both the Munich game between the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
