ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The St. Petersburg City Council voted to approve nearly $6.5 million for the cleanup and repair of Tropicana Field, which was heavily damaged during Hurricane Milton.
The City Council voted 6-2 to approve a pair of resolutions to allocate up to $2.5 million for the construction and waterproofing of certain areas of the ballpark and nearly $4 million for remediation service.

Councilmembers Driscoll, Figgs-Sanders, Gabbard, Gerdes, Montanari, and Muhammad voted yes, while Floyd and Hanewicz voted no.
Despite the approval, the councilmembers made clear they needed more information about the viability of the structure in future city council meetings, saying if repairs were unrealistic for their costs a new approach would need to be discussed.
On Oct. 15, the City issued a Letter of Agreement to Hennessy Construction for the repairs.
Under the agreement, Hennessy will perform emergency waterproofing and building protection services to minimize and avoid further damage to the Trop.
The work, which cannot exceed the $2.5 million limit, will include the following:
Removal and disposal of fallen PTFE-damaged roof material from bleachers and the field,
Removal and disposal of field turf, cushion material, and bulk soil,
Provide temporary wall framing enclosures to prevent moisture intrusion at all stadium seating levels, club suites, press box suites, and other openings throughout the stadium,
Provide interior waterproofing at all aluminum and concrete bleachers to seal all vertical and horizontal joints,
Provide interior waterproofing of the scoreboard wall,
Provide an allowance for field-level perimeter containment for roof drainage,
Provide an allowance for waterproofing in areas to be defined,
Overhead, CM fee, bonds, insurance and contingency
The second resolution approves $3,986,671 for BMS CAT for Tropicana Field remediation services.
