JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — Day one of joint training camp practices between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars went about as expected, with good and negative on both sides of the football.
Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said before leaving Tampa on Tuesday that he wanted to see fundamentals and find out what his team’s “weaknesses” are.
Wednesday offered a pretty good picture.
” spent most of the time on the offense, so I’ll look at the defense as we go forward,” Bowles said. “I thought we had some plays. I think there are some things we’ve got to get better at. As the guys that didn’t play get more reps and the sun comes out, we need to get in better shape there – mentally and physically – [to be] ready to play. I thought they fought hard.”
The Bucs will hit the field again Thursday morning, where a higher level of play is expected from both teams. No skirmishes took place on Wednesday, which met the approval of Bowles.
The two teams will face off on Saturday during the second week of preseason with a 7:30 p.m. matchup in Jacksonville.
