TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Whether you’ve been a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan for decades or just now starting to root for the team, chances are the Glazer family has played a role in your favorite team memories.
Malcolm Glazer purchased the Buccaneers back in 1995 for a then-record $192 million, taking over when former owner Hugh Culverhouse died the year before.
That move set off a chain reaction, ultimately turning the franchise’s luck around.

Under Glazer’s direction, the team ditched the classic creamsicle jerseys for the current pewter colorway; games became more fan-friendly, with multiple community events and activities surrounding all the action; and the team also moved from the old Sombrero to Raymond James Stadium.
The Glazers were also at the helm when the team won its first Super Bowl against the Raiders in 2003.
While Glazer died from a stroke in 2014, his legacy now lives in the form of his six children, all of which still own the team to this day.
