TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Trailblazer. Icon. Legend. Those are just some of the words people have used to describe former WFLA veteran anchor Gayle Sierens. All of them apply perfectly.
Sierens spent 38 years at News Channel 8 in both the news and sports departments.
The job led her to travel the world, while also leaving a lasting impact on generations of Tampa Bay residents.
Sierens also made history over the course of her career, becoming the first Florida man to serve as a play-by-play commentator for a regular-season NFL game.

With that experience comes perspective. In her nearly four decades on the air, Sierens covered almost every major Bucs moment you could think of: from the team’s early stages and the 26-game losing streak from 1976 to 1977, to the team’s first Super Bowl run during the 2002-03 season.
