TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — There are no days off for FSU running back Lawrence Toafili as he trains for the NFL Draft.
The Pinellas Park High School alumni said the highs and lows he experienced as a Nole are what shaped him into the person and player he is today.
“A lot of lessons and a lot of blessings,” said Toafili.
From winning the ACC championship against Louisville in 2023, to a forgettable 2-10 season in 2024, Toafili has experienced a lot in his collegiate career.
“Even though the circumstances don’t go the way you want, you are able to find a way to get better and come closer as a team,” said Toafili.
The running back is known for his playmaking ability in crucial moments.
He was even named MVP of the 2023 ACC Championship Game.
“Season is an example of something that I’ve learned,” Toafili said. “The standard that we have in our [running back] room, no matter what’s going on outside and no matter your circumstances that day or how you’re feeling – you have to be able to go out there and get better.”
Toafili is the fifth player in FSU history with a receiving and rushing touchdown of at least 70 yards. However, his trainer Cliff Brown, of Athlete Innovations, said it’s what he does off the field that makes him special.
“It’s more than just football,” said Brown. “Of course, they have high potential and high star-level talent on the field, but I think one thing that separates a lot of guys are the things they do off the field.”
The NFL Combine will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from Feb. 27 through March 2.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24 through April 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
