Looking for a place to unwind? Put this gem of Tampa Bay on your list

LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — If you are searching for a place to unwind and recharge this spring, put this gem of Tampa Bay on your list.

The Florida Botanical Gardens is a park located in the heart of Pinellas County with around 100 acres full of nature to explore.

“Sometimes you wouldn’t think this is in the middle of such a busy area because we’re right off Ulmerton Road, on the way to the beaches,” Florida Botanical Gardens Executive Director Emily Goot said.

The county park opened about 25 years ago and has several winding paths that take visitors to numerous themed gardens.

This gem has a children’s garden, butterfly garden, tropical fruit garden, rose garden, wedding garden, cactus/succulent garden and herb garden to name a few.

While walking around the park, visitors may also see wildlife near the water, including alligators and turtles.

“I think you’ll walk away feeling more connected to yourself,” Goot said. “Connected to the earth.”

The Florida Botanical Gardens has two entrances:

The park is also free, dog-friendly and is open every single day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
