Suspects in Town N’ Country strip club shooting appear in court

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two suspects facing charges in a shooting at Secret’s Gentlemen’s Club had their first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Jafet Rodriguez, 39, is accused of firing a gun outside the club, and detectives report 34-year-old Kenneth Jackson was the get-away driver.

Prosecutors were granted a pretrial detention hearing for both suspects. Next week, a judge will decide if they are granted bond or if they will stay in jail until trial.

Surveillance footage released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office captured the incident where a victim is seen ducking for cover as shots rang out.

Hillsborough County deputies were in the area and heard the shots fired.

“When they get there, they immediately find an individual who had been shot in the upper body, they start talking to him and at the same time, they notice an SUV fleeing the parking lot,” said Amanda Granit, with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim is expected to be OK. According to Granit, it didn’t take long for law enforcement to catch Rodriguez and Jackson.

Dottie Groover-Skipper ministers to female workers at the strip club. She wasn’t surprised by the news.

“Over the last, I would say three years or so, we have seen where there seems to be a little more violence inside the club but particularly outside the club,” Groover-Skipper said.
